    In the cover article of the December issue of the Journal of Olympic History, Stavros Tsonias and Athanasios Anastasiou discuss the first marathon races. While associated with the race at the first modern Olympics in Athens, in fact two marathon races were held in Greece in preparation for the Olympics. These are discussed in their article, “The First Marathon Races”.
